ST MARGARET’S

This year all primary school grades are complete: ECE (early child education which includes babies, middle and reception levels), Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Grade 6 is an exam year. The children who pass will then move to secondary school education.

This year there are 316 pupils, 151 boys and 165 girls.

120 are OVC (orphans and vulnerable children).

The following photos were taken with Fr Chimpali who was the parish priest at St Margaret’s and a key figure in the development of the new parish at St Margaret’s and the new school at St Margaret’s. He has been transferred to a parish in Isoka.

Everyone was very sorry to see him go but we are grateful for his wisdom and guidance during these years. We wish him well in his new parish.

NEW DESKS

Local carpenters have started building desks and benches for the new classrooms. There is one team of carpenters at St Mary’s and one team at St Margaret’s.

THE FARMS

The rains have been abundant this rainy season, which in general runs from November to April.

Last year a period of particularly heavy rains washed away some of our maize, fish ponds and destroyed some of our vegetable gardens. Hopefully it will not happen this year!

23 hectares (nearly 57 acres) of maize have been planted, 12 hectares at the old farm and 11 hectares at the new farm. This is 5 more hectares than last year.
