Management of CCC preschool at St Mary’s and primary school at St Margaret’s
Both the CCC preschool at St Mary’s and the new primary school at St Margaret’s are owned by the Diocese of Mpika and Sister Florence Nawale of the African Sisters of Our Lady Queen of Africa manages both schools as well as the farms. In addition there is a CCC board.
Our relationship with the Mpika Diocese goes back to the 1970s so it was decided from the beginning not to create a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and in this way directly support the Sisters of Our Lady Queen of Africa and the 2 parishes in their efforts to seek out the most vulnerable children who come from the whole community.
100% of the donations go directly to our projects.
An annual budget for the running of the 2 schools is prepared each year.
Our financial burden is limited to:
- paying the teachers (at the CCC preschool), workers and Sisters
- producing food at the 2 farms and purchasing food
- financially supporting the students who need assistance, as they advance in their
education - acquiring educational materials.
Up until recently funds were sent to Nakonde via the Mpika Diocese account in Germany. However, we are now able to send funds directly to the bank account in Nakonde.
The parish priests: Fr Nicholas Chisongo, parish priest from 2010 – 2015, played a key role in coordinating the construction of the CCC at St Mary’s. Fr Vito Milandile, parish priest from 2015 – 2019, continued to supervise the project. Fr. Thomson Jauking Mwaba then took over and now Fr Tresphore Kalungu is the acting parish priest at St Mary’s while Fr Chimpali is parish priest at St Margaret’s.
